Introduction to Finland

Finland is a country of contrasts. Helsinki combines modern Nordic design with coastal nature and a relaxed local atmosphere, while Lapland introduces you to forests, fells, reindeer and life above the Arctic Circle.

This route has been created primarily with a winter journey in mind, but it can also be adapted for autumn colours, spring snow or the long days of the Finnish summer.

Finland’s official tourism organisation divides the country into four distinctive regions: Helsinki, the Coast and Archipelago, Lakeland and Lapland. This sample journey concentrates on Helsinki and Lapland so that first-time visitors can experience both Finnish city life and Arctic nature within one trip.
